Energy Expenditure Monitoring and Musculoskeletal Injuries Evaluation Using PI System 2010
PI Coresight was renamed PI Vision in 2017
Last fall, M2M Lab was mandated by Defense Research and Development Canada to build a physiological monitoring system to evaluate human body energy expenditure and related data for musculoskeletal injuries analysis. A few lab ergometers have been retrofitted to communicate with PI System interfaces, and some Web services have been adapted to use 3G cell phones converted in mobile collecting node for human performance sensor network. A total of 18 soldiers did a series of outdoor tests over four days, testing an exoskeleton-like technology. 35 million records per day have been sent to PI AF and PI System 2010. The data has been used in real-time, with PI AF feeding into PI Coresight and a custom Google Maps page with critical information. Analysis has been done using PI Data Access, with an external library for FFT analysis and Microsoft Reporting Services for the final reports.
